All camps held at Susong Farm in Lebanon, IN
Only 15 spots available per session so register today!!
There are chores to be done on the farm, but when the chores are done, it’s time for FUN! At Summer Camp on the Farm, children will get a hands on experience of what it’s like to do chores on a farm. They will feed and water livestock, help clean pins, plant and weed the garden, and more. They will learn where their food comes from and even help prepare some. But that’s not all, all work and no play can make for a very dull day. There is so much fun to be had on the farm. Children will play both farm and non-farm themed games, participate in farm related STEM activities, craft, and use their imaginations as they explore life on the farm. Join us this summer for some farmtastic fun at Susong Summer Camp on the Farm.

My name is Holly Susong. I am a licensed Elementary education teacher with a degree from IUPUI. My husband, Patrick, has a Mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University. We have been married for 22 years and have three children, Jacob (20), Ava (17), and Lyla (13). Patrick, although he did not live on a working farm, spent his childhood working on his family farms and was a 10 year 4H member in livestock. I was not a member of 4H and did not live or work on a farm, however, I did grow up spending a lot of time outside doing chores on the 4 acres that I lived on. I worked in the garden a lot, planting, picking, weeding, and tending. When I wasn’t doing chores, I was spending my days outdoors, playing and using my imagination. Weeds, grass, and catalpa beans became pretend food for my siblings and I as well as the various kids my mom babysat in the summer. We created a clubhouse out of an old shed to which all the kids were members. This of course was back in the day where kids were outside from the time the sun came up until the sun went down. Wow! Those were the days.
How the Dream Began
22 years ago a young couple lie in bed discussing their hopes and dreams. That dream included living in the country, it included farming crops, and raising livestock. Our children are 4H members like their father with Jacob just finishing his 10th year. They have completed a variety of projects in 4H, including photography, foods, electric, woodworking, lawn and garden tractor, sewing, swine, and beef cattle. This is when our livestock journey began.
We’ve been raising and caring for our children’s 4H livestock for several years but not on the same property as we lived. After 20 years of dreaming we have finally been able to make our dreams come true.We purchased 20 acres, built a house, planted crops and moved our cattle to our land. Our dreams are now a reality. While we still have a long ways to go, we are so excited at how far we’ve come.
Our Mission:
To teach youth the value and impact of agriculture.
Although our family dream has been to own a working farm, as an educator I have a passion for children. This passion has lead to Susong Summer Camp on the Farm. Our mission is to provide some of those same experiences that we had as children to the children of today who may not live on a farm or spend much time outside. We want to foster imagination and play as well as provide opportunities for children to problem solve. We want to create a fun, collaborative environment where children can take care of livestock, and take part in farm and gardening chores, while also seeing some of the fun that can be had not just on a farm but outside as well.
